Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
